Rating Increases and Decreases
A (barely) scientific approach to making more stitches and making fewer stitches.
This week in the studio we’ve been talking a lot about various knitting increases and decreases, mainly because we’ve been working with a lot of feather-and-fan and chevron stitches. These are stitch patterns that use increases and decreases to create zig-zag and wavy kinds of patterns. It’s probably easier to show you a pic:
They are so incredibly clever! We’ve been trying lots of different increases and decreases to get differing effects within the patterns, so we decided to rate them for fun… all of these are worked with knit stitches (so usually used on the RS) but we might do another post on purl-based ones in the future, so fear not!
